Eleceed Anime Delayed to April 2027 as English Trailer Drops

Lead: The Eleceed anime will now premiere in April 2027, its official site announced on October 21 alongside a new English-subtitled trailer, pushing the hit webtoon’s TV debut back again.

What happened with the Eleceed anime

The official website for the TV anime posted two updates on Wednesday, October 21. The Japanese announcement confirms broadcast will begin in April 2027. A separate English post shared the official English trailer and says the series “premieres worldwide in April 2027.”

No exact premiere date or broadcast stations have been announced. Anime.com reports that Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide outside Japan and China.

The staff are unchanged. Hiroshi Nishikiori (Honey Lemon Soda) is directing at DandeLion Animation Studio, the studio that worked on The First Slam Dunk. Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) is in charge of series scripts, and Minami Sakura is the character designer.

Sources disagree slightly on how many times the show has moved. Anime News Network says the anime was originally announced for 2026. Anime.com says it had been set for early 2027 after the original 2026 premiere was pushed back. Either way, April 2027 is now the official target.

Eleceed is written by Jeho Son and drawn by ZHENA. It began in 2018 on NAVER WEBTOON, and ANN says it now runs in more than 10 languages with over 1.7 billion views worldwide. The story follows Jiwoo Seo, a high schooler with hidden, lightning-fast powers, who rescues an injured stray cat. The cat turns out to be Kayden, the strongest of the Awakened, stuck in feline form.

Why it matters

Korean webtoons have become one of anime’s most reliable sources of new material since Solo Leveling‘s breakout, and Eleceed is one of the biggest action titles still waiting for its turn. It has a huge international readership, a simple hook in the boy-and-talking-cat duo, and enough fight scenes to show off a studio.

A delay is not good news on its face, but the timing could work in its favor. April is a crowded season, yet it is also when big global launches tend to get the most attention. An extra few months is better than a rushed action series. The trailer is the first real chance to judge whether DandeLion can deliver Kayden’s lightning-fast fights.

It also completes Jeho Son’s set. His earlier series Noblesse received a TV anime from Production I.G in 2020, and Crunchyroll streams it. Eleceed is the bigger hit with modern webtoon readers, so expectations are higher.

What we know vs what is rumored

  • Confirmed: April 2027 premiere, a worldwide release, and the new English-subtitled trailer, all from the official site.
  • Confirmed: the director, studio, scriptwriter, and character designer listed above.
  • Reported: Crunchyroll streams the series worldwide except Japan and China, per Anime.com.
  • Unconfirmed: the exact premiere date, broadcast stations, episode count, and the English voice cast.

What happens next

The official site promises more updates. Expect the exact April 2027 date, the TV stations, and possibly opening and ending theme artists to be announced over the winter. Japanese book volumes 3 and 4 of the webtoon were also announced on the site on October 20, which should keep the series visible in Japan before the anime arrives.
