The sliding door creaked open, letting warm light spill onto the polished wooden floor. Hinata stepped in first, her lavender yukata stitched with white petals, tied with a crimson sash. Behind her, Naruto lugged their overnight bag with a grin, his own blue robe loosened from their mountain hike.

“This place… whoa,” Naruto whispered, eyes wide at the view. A private onsen awaited just beyond the windows, steam curling through cedar planks into the open mountain air. Beyond, pine trees swayed gently, serenaded by the hush of cicadas.

Hinata’s smile was soft. “It’s even prettier than the photos.”

“Not as pretty as you,” Naruto said. A beat. “Too cheesy?”

She shook her head, cheeks pink. “I like cheesy.”

They changed into bath towels and tiptoed onto the porch. The floorboards creaked beneath their feet, the warm mist like a gentle hug. Naruto dipped a toe in and yelped. “Hot! Hot!”

Hinata giggled, voice like wind chimes. “It’s a hot spring.”

Naruto slid in with a groan of bliss. “Oohhh yeah. This hits the spot.”

“And now we’re married.” Naruto looked skyward, steam curling past his face. “Crazy, huh?”

Hinata nodded. “Crazy wonderful.”

A firefly drifted above the water like an ember. She rested her head on his shoulder, heartbeat slow, steady. He tilted his cheek toward hers and closed his eyes.

“Hinata…” he murmured.

“Mhm?”

“I think I’m the luckiest guy in the whole world.”

She smiled. “Me too.”
