Lead: The Fortnite One Piece crossover is official: Epic Games revealed on October 24 that the Straw Hat Pirates arrive in Treasure Hunters, the mini-season launching Sunday, November 1.
What happened
Epic spent the week teasing a big reveal for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 24. Earlier that day, the official Fortnite account posted a short treasure-map clip naming the new mini-season Treasure Hunters and dating it November 1. The main reveal followed: a teaser of the Going Merry, the Straw Hat crew’s first ship, sailing out of the fog before the Fortnite and One Piece logos appear. The official post’s caption was just three straw hat emoji.
Treasure Hunters takes over when Chapter 7 Season 4 ends on November 1 and servers come back from downtime. Polygon expects the mini-season to run about a month before a new chapter begins. An in-game news image showed several rival pirate crews chasing the same treasure, including crews tied to A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto, and Fortnite’s own Peely.
Why the Fortnite One Piece deal matters
One Piece has been near the top of Fortnite collab wish lists for years, and Epic has already shown with Dragon Ball, Naruto, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen that anime crossovers sell. Putting Eiichiro Oda’s crew at the center of a themed season, instead of dropping a skin bundle into the shop, is a bigger commitment.
Polygon notes that the Going Merry’s figurehead matches the anime version rather than Netflix’s live-action series. That points to anime-style cosmetics, which fits the anime-flavored characters seen in earlier teasers. For the rights holders, a Fortnite season puts the Straw Hats in front of a younger audience that may never have watched an episode or opened a volume, which is the kind of reach a streaming release alone does not buy.
The mini-season format cuts both ways. A month is a short window, so anything tied to the collab will be harder to earn or buy if you show up late.
What we know vs what is rumored
- Confirmed: One Piece is part of Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters mini-season, which starts November 1 after Chapter 7 Season 4 ends.
- Confirmed: the official teaser shows the Going Merry and the Fortnite and One Piece logos together.
- Unconfirmed: which characters get skins, prices, and whether they come through the Battle Pass or the Item Shop. One outlet lists Monkey D. Luffy as announced, but the official teaser we checked names no characters.
What happens next
Chapter 7 Season 4 wraps up on November 1, and the Treasure Hunters update goes live once downtime ends. Epic usually publishes the Battle Pass and patch details around downtime, which is when the character list, cosmetic prices, and how to get them should become clear. If you still have tiers left on the current pass, you have about a week to finish them. We will update our coverage once Epic confirms the full roster.
